What is Gifts of Light?

A simple gesture from someone I didn’t even know, reminded me that I wasn’t alone.

— Allison Boyce
CAMH patient and Gifts of Light recipient

CAMH is one of the largest addiction and mental health organizations in North America and Canada’s leading mental health and addiction teaching hospital. Yet it is the only hospital in Toronto without a gift shop. Because of the stigma surrounding mental illness, many of our patients do not receive the small comforts nor the visitors that can lift the spirits of those in treatment.

Enter CAMH Foundation’s Gifts of Light. Since its inception in 2008, this beloved program has become a vital way for donors to connect with our patients on a personal level, delivering gifts and hope - directly to those who need it most.

Over 7,200 gifts later, Gifts of Light is now a year round program, delivering tangible gifts and meaningful experiences to patients throughout the year and throughout their journey of recovery.

Each gift offers a warm smile and a helping hand to patients who have taken a courageous step to seek the help they need.
