Website Privacy and Confidentiality Policy

The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health Foundation ("we", "us" or "CAMH Foundation”) is committed to maintaining the privacy of all individuals who use www.supportcamh.ca and related microsites (the “Site"). Any of our related microsites will be accessible from the Site by a hyperlink, and the microsite will also contain a link to this Policy. (You can also read about our guarantee to donors.)

CAMH Foundation places a high value on privacy, both in person and online. You can view our comprehensive privacy statementhere. For your convenience, our Website Privacy and Confidentiality Policy is below.

We are committed to protecting the privacy of our donors and other website users. We value our donors’ trust and understand that this requires that we be transparent and accountable about how we handle the personal information you choose to share with us. We do not trade, rent or sell the names of our donors.

This Site may contain links to other websites that are not our microsites. Upon entering other sites, you are subject to the privacy and security policies of those sites.

Similar to many websites, CAMH Foundation uses digital cookies (small pieces of information that are stored on hard drives of your computer, which allows us to “remember” information about your preferences and allows you to move within areas of our site quickly and easily) to gather trend data concerning traffic on the Site for statistical analysis. We also anonymously capture information about how users interact with our site and what pages they visit. This information is used for auditing, tracking and targeted marketing purposes and to improve the content of the Site. The data we collect is used both collectively and individually for website research to create a better experience for the users of this site. This information may be linked to you or your internet provider address. You can choose to accept or decline cookies. Most web browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can usually modify your browser setting to decline cookies if you prefer. This may prevent you from taking full advantage of the Site.

No personal information (which means personally-identifiable information including, without limitation, name, street address, telephone number, screen name and email address) about the user is collected from users of this Site unless specifically and clearly requested, and only when the user provides it voluntarily. It is CAMH Foundation’s policy that personal information of the users of our site is private and confidential. Accordingly, any personal information you provide is stored in a secure location accessible only by designated staff. In order to prevent unauthorized access and ensure proper use of your personal information, we have developed electronic and managerial procedures to secure information. In addition, personal information will only be shared with our authorized staff and vendors and will not otherwise be shared with any third party, unless permitted or required by law.

Our Site includes online forms that allow users to make a donation and/or register for events. Online donations to CAMH Foundation are processed through a third party. By voluntarily providing us with personal information in connection with donations, you are deemed to have consented to our collection, use and disclosure of such information for processing your donation. You are also deemed to consent to being added to our contact database to receive news of our activities and to solicit further donations; you can withdraw this consent at any time on written notice to us.

When you register for an event in support of CAMH Foundation, we will provide your name to the third party that is organizing this event to facilitate your registration. The third party will use your name only as required for event purposes.  We will also add your name to our public list of donors unless you opt to be anonymous.

Individuals are given an opportunity to request that we no longer send them information or further requests for donations.

We take reasonable measures to protect personal information from loss, alteration or unauthorized access or disclosure. Access will be allowed only on a need-to-know basis.

All information provided to CAMH Foundation over the Site is transmitted using SSL (Secure Socket Layer) encryption. SSL is a coding system that lets your browser automatically encrypt, or scramble, data before you send it to us. We use password protocols and secure websites to protect personal information transmitted or stored electronically. Unfortunately, however, no data transmission over the Internet is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot ensure or warrant the security of such information during transmission.

If you are a user of this Site who has provided personal information to CAMH Foundation, you can have access to your personal information for the purposes of correcting or updating any of your personal information or to delete the personal information you provided on this Site from our records (except where we must maintain that personal  information as required by law). A contact email address for such purposes will be provided at the points of collection of personal information on this Site.

CAMH Foundation may update this Policy from time to time, but the most current version will always be posted to this Site. Your continued use of the Site following the posting of changes to these terms will mean you accept those changes.

Questions or concerns regarding the handling of personal information may be directed to our Privacy Officer, at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health Foundation, 100 Stokes Street, 5th Floor, Toronto, ON M6J 1H4 or send an email to Privacy.Foundation@camh.ca.
