Hey friends!
This year, I am running a 5k with UR Enough to raise funds for CAMH at the Scotiabank run. I volunteered for CAMH for several years and it's a place I truly care for. I had the wonderful opportunity to volunteer holding a dance program for dual-diagnosis clients, an art program for clients with schizophrenia, and an art program in the secure forensic women's unit. These clients will benefit so much from all of our support.
I wanted to run the half marathon this year, but stuff happens, freak accidents occur, and ice falls on your head sometimes :-P So although I had a big setback, I'm happy I can hopefully do this 5k instead. I've had my challenges this year with recovering from my concussion and the mental health aspects that went along with it. I struggled with quite a few sad, challenging and anxious times this year, but with helpful resources and amazing friends/family, I feel much better. A lot of people don't have the same resources and need our help to get there. Mental health IS health and the more we talk about it, volunteer, ackowledge it and help break down the stigma, the more we can help everyone. Any little bit helps and I am so grateful in advance. Thank you :)
I am holding my own fundraiser to support CAMH, Canada's leading mental health hospital.
Did you know that 1 in 5 Canadians experience mental illness in any given year?
And yet many don't consider it a real health issue.
With your support, we can change attitudes, behaviours and culture. We can drive action and make a difference. We can shape a world where mental illness is seen in the same light as every other illness, and all people receive the level of care they need and deserve. A world where Mental Health is Health.
Please donate today and help me reach my fundraising goal.
Together we can break down stigma, fund innovative research, and provide access to new and promising treatments for people living with mental illness.
