Welcome to the #DayLikeItsNightTour for Mental Health Donations Page!
Note: If you're looking to buy tickets, head to alexsoutheymusic.wordpress.com. This is for DONATIONS AND SUPPLEMENTARY INFO ONLY.
My name is Alex Southey. I'm an indie musician local to Toronto, and I decided I wanted to create a tour. This tour would not be a normal tour, it would be purely in the service of raising donations for mental health research and awareness within Canada.
This tour will consist mainly of indie folk music, from musicians (on Spotify) such as myself, Pickford, Phillip Vonesh, Wes Fowler, Laurena Segura, Daniel Fishbayn, and more.
If you're not sure if you'll like our music, please check out the Spotify Playlist #DayLikeItsNightTour. Obviously, artists like City & Colour, and Aimee Mann, will not be attending the tour, but you can listen to the mix and see how you feel.
Lastly,
Mental Health is a big topic for me. I currently benefit from Toronto's (currently much too limited) mental health resources. I take a small dosage of medication, and I regularly attend therapy at the Al & Malka Green Artists' Centre (https://www.uhn.ca/MCC/PatientsFamilies/Clinics_Tests/Artists_Health_Centre).
An Important Message from CAMH:
Did you know that 1 in 5 Canadians experience mental illness in any given year?
And yet many don't consider it a real health issue.
With your support, we can change attitudes, behaviours and culture. We can drive action and make a difference. We can shape a world where mental illness is seen in the same light as every other illness, and all people receive the level of care they need and deserve. A world where Mental Health is Health.
Please donate today and help me reach my fundraising goal.
Together we can break down stigma, fund innovative research, and provide access to new and promising treatments for people living with mental illness.
