Each and every day we hear stories around us or on the news about someone afflicted with a mental health disorder. All of us are affected in some way by this terrible disease, and for many of us, it hits harder as it may be a friend or loved one that we see suffering.
Sadly, I personally understand the agony of mental health issues as I lost two very close friends who took their lives when they could no longer cope with the anguish and hopelessness they felt. I will never forget them and I wish there was more I could have done to help them before it was too late.
This is why I have chosen to ride in this year’s Tour de Bleu in support of CAMH – the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health. Over the course of the weekend, I will cycle 200km and fundraising for my ride will directly support key research and care priorities related to child and youth mental health issues. To learn more about CAMH and the wonderful work they do, please visit www.camh.ca
Further, I will personally also match each dollar up to $10,000 to show my support for CAMH and its life-changing and life-saving work for children and youth. Through the astounding generosity of Peter Gilgan and the Peter Gilgan Foundation, and another generous private donor, for every dollar we raise together another $4 will be donated.
For example, a $250 donation would actually equal $1250 for CAMH. This is for the first $10,000 that is matched by me personally. Following that, $1 will equal $2.50.
As my one ‘big ask’ of the year, I hope you will consider supporting my ride and my quest to do as much as we can for this very worthy organization.
Thank you so much for your support and generosity.
