As many of you know CAMH has been a huge part of my life and as a result I am giving back to a place that made a HUGE impact on my life. Although I encountered CAMH a couple times through my journey it was the last time in 2015 that really changed my life. I never considered myself a fighter growing up, but once I developed my illness and going through what I have gone through I definitely consider myself a fighter today.
Although I struggle everyday with my illness, I have conquered my addiction and continue to be able to deal with my mental health on a more level headed basis. The people at CAMH gave me hope when I had lost all hope, and gave me strength to say I deserved more for myself. I thank everyone at CAMH from the doctors, nurses, therapists and patients who helped me when I was an in-patient, to the people who still continue to treat me today. Without there help I have no idea where I would be today, and really it scares me to think about where I might be.
I am creating a team with friends and family to say thank you, and hopefully help people like me who feel hopeless and helpless realize they have so much to live for. I hope with the donations I get it will make a difference in the lives of those who suffer these terrible illnesses.
Whatever you can contribute I thank you, and I appreciate each one of your love and support throughout this long jouney I have been on. I definitely would not be where I am today without my family. My family was my lifeline and made the biggest impact on me of all, without all of you, I definitely would not have made the good progress to where I am today.
I’m stepping up to defeat mental illness!
The CAMH One Brave Night for Mental Health challenge is a Canada-wide challenge to inspire hope for Canadians living with mental illness.
I took the #OneBraveNight challenge because I want to inspire hope for people living with mental illness now – and to defeat mental illness. By making a donation to my One Brave Night, you are helping CAMH improve access to care, conduct research to find better treatments, and build more spaces for healing.
This is our chance to step up! Please donate generously and help me reach my fundraising goal.
