On Friday, May 10th, I’m showcasing my hidden talent in support of mental health! I will be going live on my Youtube channel talking about my journey with mental illness and addiction. I will be addressing how others around me were able to support me and encourage me to continue in sobriety and to continue to grow spiritually.
My journey with mental health started in childhood. I didn't know at the time how the things that happened to and around me would shape my life in my teens, young adulthood, marriage and relationships with others. If I had been able to get help as a young child my life would have been very different I am sure. It is necessary that we support children with mental illness and petition our governments at all levels to take mental health issues seriously.
Wait times for receiving proper medical care for mental illness is astonishing. In many areas of Canada, the wait time is one full year or more! This is unacceptable in the 21st century.
CAMH One Brave Night is a chance to share a piece of myself with the world for a great cause. I am excited (and a bit nervous!) to express my passion and creativity, so we can inspire hope for the one in five Canadians who experience mental illness every year.
Please donate today and help me reach my fundraising goal.
Together we will break down stigma, fund innovative research, and provide access to new and promising treatments for people living with mental illness.
