Think of where you work, where we know that one in five of your coworkers is struggling or will struggle with their mental health. Not nameless or faceless people; they are your friends and colleagues. Some are having trouble getting up in the morning, some are not able to sleep. They are feeling lost, even while at work, wondering how they'll get through the day, or the week, or even the weekend. They are probably afraid to talk about it, and therefore unlikely to know where or how to seek help.
I can tell you that I know how that feels. It doesn't matter how much money or success you have, where you live, the colour of your skin, whether you are married or have children, your mental health is very likely to be fragile at some point in your life, and we need to make sure that no one is ashamed to admit it and seek help.
CAMH's mission is to be there when a person realizes that they need help. So when I took my mom to CAMH last summer, not sure where else to turn, it was the start that me and my family needed to get real help. Less than a year later, she is stronger and healthier than she has been in a long time, and CAMH played an important role.
PointClickCare's ONE BRAVE NIGHT event is the shining moment of our employee charitable events. Maybe your workplace is already doing something. If so, please support it and donate to it. If not, maybe you can join the cause. Either set up your own page and raise money, or just use my link and contribute to ours.
It's worth it. You can be sure.
