Today I join thousands of others in #OneBraveNight.
Here is my story. http://www.lady-luck-pinups.com/blog/eating-disorders-not-one-size-fits-all-natalie-proulx
CAMH - Centre for Addiction and Mental Health has given a venue & day for voices to come forward and be heard, in hopes to help end the stigma that surround mental health. I took the challenge.
While the anxiety ridden part of me wishes these photos and story sink into the depths of the internet, never to be found, I know its purpose is to be shared, and I hope that it is. I hope that others 'feel the feels' as I so often tell my clients they have to do, and brings a sense of understanding when it comes to mental health disorders, and how staggering that statistic of one in five really is; people you know struggle - even if you don't see or sense it. I hope it makes people want to educate themselves on how they can make a difference. I hope that friends and family aren't afraid to step up and offer a hug and ear to someone who they think could use it. I hope others fake some braveness like I did, and come forward to share their story - maybe not even publicly, but to a trusted friend.. And if they'd prefer a stranger - I'm happy to listen. I can be reached here or through Natalie Proulx - Facing the Sun or other avenues through www.facingthesun.life
