From now until Friday, May 10th, I'm showcasing my hidden talent in support of mental health! I will be creating a photo memorial for the family of a Lady who I admired immensely for all that she did to rescue and help the lost and the unwanted animals in our town and other areas! She put her heart and soul into saving these precious animals and I wish to do something special for her family! Brenda Lautaoja was murdered recently and the entire town was in shock over what transpired! I cannot imagine how her family are dealing with losing her! I'm not sure how my photo memorial will be welcomed but, I feel that it is something that I need to do!
CAMH One Brave Night is extremely important to me for many reasons! I have PTSD which was misdiagnosed for many years! I was in my thirties before I got the nerve to hospitalize myself and get help in order to gain full custody of my youngest daughter. I was ridiculed and treated like I had a contagious disease! Although at that time PTSD was considered a condition that was connected with War Veterans and I was diagnosed with Manic Depression (which was wrong), in the three weeks that I spent in the hospital I did learn that I was not "crazy" and that I was not alone! From then on I was no longer embarrassed of the fact that I have a mental illness.
I have family members and close friends who struggle every day with a Mental Illness! This is 2019 and the STIGMA surrounding Mental Illness still prevents people from seeking help! When we have a health problem that needs to be tended to, we don't hesitate to seek help but, those with a Mental Illness desperately need Professional help but, don't know how to get it without anyone finding out! They don't want to reach out to friends or family fearing that they will either be told that they're imagining it or lose their friends and contact with family members! This has to end Now, by donating you personally can make a huge difference in helping a multitude of people in a multitude of ways! Thank you ahead of time for your donation and for acknowledging the fact that Mental Illness is real....
Please donate today and help me reach my fundraising goal.
Together we will break down stigma, fund innovative research, and provide access to new and promising treatments for people living with mental illness.
