Hey guys!
Last year I helped raise money for CAMH's One Brave Night, but this year I have decided to step it up a notch. From now until Friday, May 10th, I will be showcasing my hidden talent in support of mental health for CAMH's One Brave Night.
One in five Canadians experience mental illness every year - I am one of them. I have struggled with mental health for a while and have openly shared my journey since the beginning. For those who know me or have been following my story you know how passionate I am about continuing to raise awareness about anything and everything that surrounds mental health and trying to break the stigma that surrounds it. I have been in extensive treatment programs through CAMH before which is why I have chosen to participate in CAMH's One Brave Night. This is a chance to share a piece of myself with the world for a great cause and it's also my way of giving back to the community that helped me when I needed it the most. I am excited (and definitely nervous) to express my passion and creativity so we can inspire hope in those who experience mental illness.
I know from going through it myself that mental illness does not only affect the one who is struggling with it, but everyone around them - everyone is affected by mental illness in one way or another.
This cause is something that I hold very close to my heart and from being through the system myself numerous times there's a lot that needs to change to help make it better. Any little bit goes a long way, so if you are able to, please donate today to help me reach my fundraising goal of $600.00.
Together we will break down stigma, fund innovative research, and provide access to new and promising treatments for people living with mental illness.
So what will my hidden talent be? Maybe it's playing piano, or perhaps interpretive dance? Could it be juggling? Or a mean version of Hot Crossed Buns on the recorder? Stay tuned to find out.....
Thank-you,
Shelby Page
