CALLING ALL TALENT!!!

Once again Team UniversalCare is stepping up - and staying up on May 10th - to defeat mental illness!

For the 4th year in a row, Team UniversalCare will be participating in the CAMH One Brave Night for Mental Health (TM) challenge.
This year’s campaign, “SHINE A SPOTLIGHT ON MENTAL HEALTH” challenges us to showcase our hidden talents!

On Friday, May 10, 2019, we challenge you to step into the spotlight at our UniversalCare’s Got Talent Showcase to raise funds to defeat mental health.
Sing a song, read a poem, do a dance, display your artwork... it’s time to express your creativity and share it with the world during our #OneBraveNight.

What’s better than sharing a piece of yourself — your hidden talent — with the world? Sharing it for a great cause!

Last year we raised $1,881, stayed up all night and had fun doing it! This year our goal is to raise $3,000 and we need your help to achieve this!

Did you know?
• 1 in 5 Canadians experience mental illness in any given year.
• 68% of adults 65 and over know little or nothing about depression.
• There are as many as 200 suicide attempts every day in Canada.

I will keep you posted on our progress and for those wanting to stay up all night with us on Friday, May 10th the details will follow.

Practice these quick stress relief ideas:

  • When you are feeling stressed, take a moment for yourself. Being aware is the first step to change.
  • Go for a brisk walk around the block. Focus on the movement of your muscles and relax each one in turn.
  • Listen to your favourite soundtrack, musician or song. Close your eyes and sing along.
  • Step up and defeat mental illness by donating or joining #OneBraveNight today!
