In 2020 I will be running my first marathon and fundraising for CAMH, Canada's leading mental health hospital.
As I reflect on the past year since losing my close friend Jeff to mental health and inheriting his dog Johnny, running has largely been where I've processed this loss. I can't help but think of the "what if's", amongst all the great memories too. Mental health touches so many, and there is still so much work that needs to be done.
Did you know that 1 in 5 Canadians experience mental illness in any given year?
And yet many don't consider it a real health issue.
CAMH is the leading mental health hospital, which is where Jeff originally went when he was suffering. They are investing in research and program development to help people like Jeff.
With your support, we can change attitudes, behaviours and culture. We can drive action and make a difference. We can shape a world where mental illness is seen in the same light as every other illness, and all people receive the level of care they need and deserve. A world where Mental Health is Health.
Whether it's $5, or even just taking a moment to reach out to someone who is suffering, every bit counts. Please donate today and help me reach my fundraising goal.
Together we can break down stigma, fund innovative research, and provide access to new and promising treatments for people like Jeff. Thanks!
