Run for Kash 2024 (Keith Kaschak)

Keith Kaschak was my older brother, and I always looked up to him. If you had the privilege of knowing Keith, then you know that he truly was one of a kind. He had a heart of gold, an infectious laugh and a very original sense of style.

On October 30th 2022 we lost him to opiod addiction. Keith struggled with addiction and mental health for most of his life, but he was so much more than his illness. He was a brother, a father, an uncle and a son. Keith was one of those people who made a lasting impression on everyone he met. He cared deeply for everyone in his life and could strike up a conversation with anyone. Keith was thoughtful, generous and kind. He was always the most fun to be around; he loved kids (and animals too) and they loved him. These are the memories of my brother that I want to celebrate and keep alive.

Last year, we participated in a run in honour of my brother and raised $7500 for CAMH (Center for Addiction and Mental Health). It is my intention to host this fundraiser annually, to honour my brother and give him a lasting legacy. This year our run will take place in Windsor, Ontario where we will be running the 5km Moon in June on June 15th 2024. We hope that through this event we will be able to raise more money and awareness about addiction and mental health in our community. Our goal is to raise another $7,500.00 for CAMH in 2024 and bring our total funds raised to $15,000.

With your support, we can change how the world sees and treats addiction and mental illness. We can break down stigma and lead important conversations. We can give people time to get the help they need; families time to heal; and researchers and clinicians time to make breakthroughs and offer new treatment options.

Please donate today and help us reach our fundraising goal!

Together, we can give people hope for a better tomorrow.
