The Happy Race
The Happy Race is a charitable organization passionate about providing mental health relief in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. The past year of uncertain times has led to a significant decline in mental health across Canada. Levels of depression and anxiety have been at an all time high, and after only six months of the pandemic, 1 in 10 canadians reported thoughts of suicide and self harm.
The Happy Race has two aims.
1) Encourage people of all ages across Canada to get physically active
2) Raise our target goal of $2000 to The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH).
Physical exercise is proven to reduce feelings of anxiety, promote feelings of energy and elation, and decrease your risk of long-term depression. Physical activity is a healthy coping tool easily incorporated into your routine. We hope that our events promote unity, friendly competition, and can bring children, youth, and adults together during these isolated times.
We hope that no matter where you are, you participate in The Happy Race this summer. Better times are coming, and partaking in The Happy Race is our first step to turning the page into a new chapter.
