Welcome to the official fundraiser page for Believe In What You Want, a music-based project designed to create awareness and raise funds for CAMH, Canada's leading mental health hospital.
In 2021 I started a project called Jaimee Eat World where I self-produce, perform, record, and mix my reimagination of the entire Jimmy Eat World discography. I came up with the idea after deciding to get sober from alcohol in March 2020, and I very much cite the music of this band and many of my other favourite songwriters as a large part of the reason I was able to come to terms with my own addiction and make the first real steps towards kicking the habit.

To date I have released 10 Jimmy Eat World covers which you can listen to for free and even download on the official Jaimee Eat World page. The band has an extensive discography (10 studio albums, b-sides, live cuts & counting?) and it is very much my intention to cover every single song they've in some way released or performed in their impressive 25+ year career. By the time this project is complete they will be in their 30th year as a collective.
In short, why am I doing this?
1 in 5 Canadians experience mental illness in any given year and 4,000 Canadians die by suicide every year— that's almost 11 people per day. 11 people every day who reach a point of hopelessness that they feel this world is better off without them in it. 11 people every single day who never get the support the need.
There is still incredible stigma and ignorance surrounding mental health conditions and the use of mental health services. This project aims to do it's little part in changing that.
My personal goal is that everyone who learns about this project not only leaves feeling comfortable talking about illnesses like depression, anxiety, suicide and addiction with their friends and families, but also knows that there are services availabel to them to support them in their own recovery. You don't have to suffer alone.
