Participant Tools

Thank you for registering to be part of camh Darkness to Light, the all-night challenge to defeat mental illness!

1. Customize Your Participant Centre

Getting started is easy. Here’s how:

  • Login to your online Participant Centre using the username and password that you created when you registered for the event.

  • Make it personal: customize your fundraising page with a photo and the reasons why you are taking part in camh's all-night challenge to defeat mental illness.

2. Email templates to help you reach your goal

Reach out to your family, friends and co-workers and ask them to help stop mental illness from destroying lives. Ask them to sponsor you to stay up all-night in support of the 1 in 5 Canadians affected by mental illness or addiction. Customizable emails, already loaded into your Participant Centre, make it easy to start fundraising. You can also invite people to help by joining your team. There’s a customizable email for that too.

3. Get started with sample social posts

Dare your friends and family to help you defeat mental illness using social media. Use the camh Darkness to Light profile pic on facebook and Twitter to show your support. And, don’t forget to share your fundraising progress! Here are some posts you can use.

4. Fundraising tips:

  • Attitude matters.
Ask for donations with the expectation of a ‘Yes’. Approaching an ask with a positive attitude improves your odds of success. Every time.
  • Tell people how their support will make a difference.
Each sponsor of camh Darkness to Light helps stop mental illness from destroying lives by advances in care, breakthroughs in research and by lending their voice to eliminate the stigma surrounding mental illness which keeps people from seeking help.
  • Be prepared to hear ‘No’.
Don’t take this personally. Say thanks anyway and move on to your next ask.
  • Show your thanks.

Make sure to thank each supporter when they make a gift, and throughout your fundraising efforts. Did you reach your first milestone? Let your supporters know that they made this possible. And, when you reach your goal, thank them again for helping you succeed and helping defeat mental illness.

5. Pledge Form

You can collect and track offline donations (cash and cheques) in your Participant Centre. This way, your offline donations are added to your fundraising total. When you're ready to mail your offline donations to us, you can print off a summary from your Participant Centre.
